Meet Molly Lebowitz

Why do you volunteer for PDXWIT?

I find the PDXWIT community to be both friendly and expansive. I remember the first PDXWIT event that I stumbled on downtown at Moovel - I was immediately captured by Megan Bigelow's magnetic energy as she addressed the lively crowd. I want to give back to this community that offers so much to literally anyone who is interested enough to stop by!

What is your day job or another passion of yours (besides PDXWIT)?

I'm a management consultant here in Portland at a local firm called Propeller. I work side by side with my clients as we tackle large, complex cross-functional projects and challenges involving technology. As an engineer, solving problems is my favorite pastime, and I love my job!

What has been your favorite PDXWIT project, initiative or event you have participated in as a volunteer? Why?

Back in 2017 I collaborated with a few volunteers to create a Strategic Plan for PDXWIT. We got to help the board (at that time) think through their goals for the organization, and chart a path to achieve them. It felt like a strong contribution to set direction for the community. I met two amazing people through this work who I have remained connected with and learned so much from - Monique Breault and Jody Feldman.

What is something people may not know about you?

I used to teach LEGO engineering classes to kids and can build an electric LEGO car blindfolded. I also enjoy tinkering with my own (real) car.
